July 28

Morning

Walk in love.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. § Above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” § Love covers all sins.

Whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. § Love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return. § Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles. § Not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. § If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. § Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Evening

Let your requests be made known to God.

Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will. § A thorn in the flesh was given to me … Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities.

I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. § [Hannah] was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish … Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and … will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life.” …

We do not know what we should pray for as we ought. § He will choose our inheritance for us.
