March 14

Morning

Adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

Let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ. § Abstain from every form of evil. § If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you … But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. § Become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. § Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Bind [mercy and truth] around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart, and so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. § Brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is anything praiseworthy– meditate on these things.

Evening

The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth. § The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing.

How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word … Your word has given me life … Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You … I will not forget Your word … I trust in Your word … The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver …  I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life … How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
