May 11

Morning

Awake to righteousness, and do not sin.

You are all sons of light and sons of the day. . . . Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

It is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. § Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. §  Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. § Lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. §  Little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.

Evening

My sheep hear My voice.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

I sleep, but my heart is awake; it is the voice of my beloved! He knocks, saying, “Open for me, my sister, my love, my dove, my perfect one.”… I opened for my beloved, but my beloved had turned away and was gone. My heart leaped up when he spoke. I sought him, but I could not find him; I  called him, but he gave me no answer.

Speak, for Your servant hears. § When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. § I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints; but let them not turn back to folly.
